چکیده
C-type lectins (CTL) are a large group of pattern-recognition proteins and to play important roles in glycoprotein metabolism, multicellular integration, immunity. Based on their overall domain structure, they can be classified as different groups that possess physiological functions. A typical lectin (named OmLec1) was identified from the fish, Onychostoma macrolepis, an cultured fish China. Open reading frame OmLec1 contains 570 bp, encoding protein 189 amino acids includes signal peptide single carbohydrate-recognition domain. The phylogenetic analysis showed could grouped with other fish. expressed all tissues our study, expression level highest liver. And its relative levels were significantly upregulated following infection Aeromonas hydrophila. recombinant (rOmLec1) agglutinate some Gram-negative bacteria Gram-positive vitro presence Ca2+, showing Ca2+-dependent carbohydrate-binding protein. Furthermore, rOmLec1 purified E. coli BL21 (DE3), strongly bound LPS PGN, well tested manner. These results indicate plays central role innate immune response pattern recognition receptor recognizes diverse pathogens among O. macrolepis.

Lectins are carbohydrate-interacting proteins that play a pivotal role in multiple physiological and developmental aspects of all organisms. They can specifically interact with different bacterial and viral pathogens through carbohydrate-recognition domains (CRD). In addition, lectins are also of biotechnological interest because of their potential use as biosensors for capturing and identifyin...
متن کاملA multi-CRD C-type lectin with broad recognition spectrum and cellular adhesion from Argopectenirradians.
C-type lectins are a superfamily of Ca(2+)-dependent carbohydrate-recognition proteins which play significant roles as pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) in the innate immunity. In this study, a novel C-type lectin with four dissimilar carbohydrate-recognition domains (CRDs) was identified from Argopectenirradians (designated as AiCTL-9). The full-length cDNA of AiCTL-9 was of 2291 bp with an...
متن کاملThe C-Type Lectin Receptor MCL Mediates Vaccine-Induced Immunity against Infection with Blastomyces dermatitidis.
C-type lectin receptors (CLRs) are essential in shaping the immune response to fungal pathogens. Vaccine-induced resistance requires Dectin-2 to promote differentiation of antifungal Th1 and Th17 cells. Since Dectin-2 and MCL heterodimerize and both CLRs use FcRγ as the signaling adaptor, we investigated the role of MCL in vaccine immunity to the fungal pathogen Blastomyces dermatitidis. MCL(-/...
متن کاملCharacterization of Multisugar-Binding C-Type Lectin (SpliLec) from a Bacterial-Challenged Cotton Leafworm, Spodoptera littoralis
BACKGROUND Various proteins that display carbohydrate-binding activity in a Ca(2+)-dependent manner are classified into the C-type lectin family. They have one or two C-type carbohydrate-recognition domains (CRDs) composed of 110-130 amino acid residues in common. C-type lectins mediate cell adhesion, non-self recognition, and immuno-protection processes in immune responses and thus play signif...

Lectins play important roles in crustacean innate immunity through recognition of foreign pathogens. In this study, 20 lectins including C-type lectins [dual-carbohydrate recognition domain (CRD) type and single-CRD type], L-type lectin, and lectin with low-density lipoprotein class A (LDLa) domain were identified from the freshwater prawn Macrobrachium rosenbergii. The tissue distribution and ...
